As anyone with a larger foot knows choosing the right sneaker in sizes 14 and higher can be a challenge for a number of whys and wherefores. Some styles and brands can make the larger and wider foot, appear loftier and almost ‘clownish’ (see the Nike Air Force One as an example). So what does the grandeur foot do to stay on top of current trends?
The first suggestion is to try the shoe on. While many of us (self-included) tend to shop online to take advantage of deep discounts, it’s always a good practice, no matter the shoe size, to try the shoe on in a brick and mortar and then, if you like the fit, purchase online. Also, stick with one or two colors in the sneaker.
A great choice is the iconic Nike Air Max 90 Essential. It’s a timeless shoe that delivers on comfort and style, all without having to tap into your 401K. I own several pairs of this next generation sneaker and they can effortlessly be taken from day to night. I like to pair the Black/Sail/Legion Green colorway with Khaki Levis and a nice button down for the office – but my favorite is to rock the Wolf Grey Essentials with dark denim and a cool graphic tee for night. In either choice, the large paw cannot go wrong with this sneaker. If you really want to display your individual tall style, you have the option to design your own on NIKE.com. Sizes 14 and 15 are available for purchase online and larger sizes available in 6 weeks or less. You’ll get compliments from collectors and your fellow large foot brethren alike.
Air Max Day was on March 26th, 2017. Leading up to this date, Nike released several Air Max sneakers throughout the month of March. What’s your favorite pair of Air Max’s?
